GB 1840 2d Pale Blue PLATE 2 HUGE QV EXAMPLE Great Britain 1840 Queen Victoria 2d pale blue pl.2, Lettered 'GI' a quite superb example with enormous margins all round and a lovely crisp MC. Do not be deceived by the catalogue - pale blue is a VERY SCARCE shade on pl.2, most copies of which are blue or deep blue. This is an exhibition quality example with a most interesting distorted Maltese cross - perhaps Dursley?! Offered WITHOUT RESERVE. GB 1840 QV 1d Black Rare Cheltenham 'Pink' MX Great Britain Queen Victoria Penny Black, 1840 1d. Black pl.1 1b 'JJ' (re-cut side lines) tied to neat envelope by the VERY RARE Cheltenham 'pink' Maltese cross. This is a particularly good example with bright 'salmon pink' colour. Only a handful have been recorded. Listed in Alcock and Holland 'Maltese Cross Cancellations of Great Britain and Ireland'. Signnificantly more scarce than the magenta MC (cat £3500).
