1942 From Australia to Australian P.O.W. Malaya Undate 1942 WO2 A C Armour 2/26th Battalion AIF. The cover from Queensland is Australian Red Cross type Ae 3 (with c/o OFFICIAL PRISONERS OF WAR INFORMATION BUREAU totally obliterated and replaced with c/o JAPANESE RED CROSS SOCIETY in red). It has no Australian postal marking but the inscription indicates it was received on 2nd April 1943. There is no visible Japanese marking. The square 3 PASSED BY CENSOR 376 in violet is the Australian censor mark with the 3d by Censor resealing tape in red on the reverse. The cover has no location makings. (PT # 8)

The cover is Australian Red Cross type Ae3 (with C/o OFFICIAL PRISONERS OF WAR INFORMATION BUREAU totally obliterrated and replaced with C/o JAPANESE RED CROSS SOCIETY in red). There is a Melbourne circular datestamp. No receipt date is noted. There are no Japanese censor marks. The square 3 PASSED BY CENSOR 132 in violet is the Australian censor mark with the 3d by Censor resealing tape in red on the reverse. The cover is inscribed "Changi in pencil. Private Kenny was held in Changi Gaol from late April or early May 1944. (PT#22).

1943 Cover and letter from Australia to POW Malaya Undated Mid 1943 Pte F F Brightfield, HQ Coy 2/19th Battalion, (Band), General Base Depot A I F. The cover and letter from his mum is Australian Red Cross type Ae 3 (with c/o OFFICIAL PRISONERS OF WAR INFORMATION BUREAU totally obliterated and replaced with c/o JAPANESE RED CROSS SOCIETY in red). It has a Melbourne circular datestamp and parallel line cancellation. The inscription indicates it was received on 22nd May 1944. There is no Japanese censor mark. The diamond 3 PASSED BY CENSOR 168 in violet on the back and front is the Australian censor mark with the 3d by Censor resealing tape in red on the reverse. The cover is inscribed "Cha" in pencil. Fred Brightfield spent the 3 1/2 years of the captivity in Singapore, the last period from May 1944 in Changi Jail. (PT # 10)

1945 From Australia to Malaya P.O.W. Camp Malaya 31st January 1945 Private Kevin Kenny Australian Prisoner of War. The POW cover from his mother has a local Elliston SA circular datestamp on two 2 1/2d adhesives but has no receipt date noted. There is the circular Japanese censor mark of Kinoshita in red 15mm diameter with 5 characters reading KEN ETSU ZUMI (Passed by Censor) above and KINO SHITA below. The square 3 PASSED BY CENSOR 281 in violet is the Australian censor mark with the 3d by Censor resealing tape in red. The cover is inscribed "Cha / 1" in pencil. (PT # 22).

1945 From Australia to Australian P.O.W. Malayan Camp 30th July 1945 Lieut B D Richardson 2/20th Battalion AIF Malaya. The cover from his family was mailed with two Mayfield NSW circular datestamps. It has a manuscript "RTA" (Return to addressee) in black ink. There is no Japanese censor mark. The cover possible never left Australis; it certainly never got into Japanese hands. The diamond 3 PASSED BY CENSOR 182 in violet is the Australian censor mark with the 3d by Censor resealing tape in red used to reseal after inspection. (PT # 23).
