GB 1841 1d Black Plate 4 Variety - Rouletting "Private Rouletting At Right". Superb example of diagonal rouletting tied by Red Maltese Cross over the roulettes proving this to be contemporaneos. This is a VERY RARE variety on the Queen Victoria penny black. We have recorded only 4 examples - 2 on cover in the Nigel Howard collection and two on piece. GB 1840 1d Black on a "TURNED COVER", IPSWICH 1841, Part Lettersheet from HULL to IPSWICH, with Queen Victoria Penny Black "1d" (PAID) handstamp in RED, HULL despatch CDS for AP 20th 1841, IPSWICH receiver for AP 22, (LONDON TOMBSTONE TRANSIT AP 21). The Cover was then turned inside out, with an 1840 1d INTENSE BLACK, PLATE 4, Lettered "FA".
