Tightly curled hair with domed usnisa. 20.25 inches/51.5 cms. 16th or 17th centuries, probably first half of the 16th. Like almost all of the stone figures they superseded the materials employed in these very thinly bronzes were mostly not strong enough to support the weight of the arms, and these have usually been lost. Where the clay core material is exposed it can be seen that armatures have not been used. A very similar head only is in the Walters Art Gallery, Baltimore (# 54.2821).
